Seyed Ali Marashi said that as soon as the pilgrims register in the Hajj caravans, their physical fitness tests will begin.

He said that based on the guidelines introduced by the Saudi government, which have also been confirmed by Iran’s Academy of Medical Sciences, patients with severe heart or kidney conditions, patients who have recently undergone a kidney transplant, patients who have had a heart attack or stroke within the last six months, people who have recently undergone a heart, kidney, or liver transplant and are taking medication, patients with advanced cancers who are undergoing treatment, pregnant women, and patients who are on dialysis and have advanced kidney failure are absolutely prohibited from performing Hajj next year.

He emphasized that if their physical fitness is rejected during the examination stage, applicants for the 2026 Hajj who have registered will not be able to perform Hajj and their names will be removed from the list of the caravan.

He also noted that 151 doctors have been designated to examine all pilgrims from different cities of the country, and each doctor will examine between 550 and 600 pilgrims.

Only if their physical fitness is confirmed, the pilgrim’s registration will be finalized, he said.

Some 85,000 Iranians performed the Hajj rituals in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, this year.
