Egyptian Qari Comes 1st in Mecca Grand Mosque Quran Contest

IQNA – Hamada Muhammad al-Sayyid, an Egyptian Quran memorizer, won the first place in the first Quran memorization competition for Hajj pilgrims held at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

These competition was organized by the General Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques for pilgrims from different countries of the world.

The competition was attended by more than a thousand participants from the guests of the House of God who traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.

Al-Sayyid, a member of the Faculty of Quranic Recitations and Quranic Sciences of Al-Azhar University in Tanta, Egypt, was one of the winners of the competition.

He was named the top winner in the category of memorizing the entire Quran.

The number of all winners of the contest in different categories was 18, with al-Sayyid being the only Egyptian among them.

A ceremony was held at the Grand Mosque to honor the winners of the competition. They received memorial prizes.

Sheikh Maher al-Muaiqly, the imam of mosque, on behalf of the presidency, presented the top prizes to the winners.

Memorizing the entire Quran, memorizing half of the Quran, and Quran recitation were among the categories of the competition.

It was aimed at identifying and honoring Quranic talents among Hajj pilgrims and strengthening the influence of the Quran on this spiritual journey.

More than 1.7 million pilgrims from around the world took part in this year’s Hajj, which concluded in Mecca on Monday.
