Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, addressing a meeting of the council on Wednesday, marked the birth anniversary of Imam Hadi (AS) and the upcoming Eid al-Ghadir with remarks emphasizing religious leadership and unity.
He drew parallels between historical challenges faced by Shia Muslims and contemporary issues.
“Severe security policies, cultural pressures, and the deliberate distortion of Shia teachings created unique challenges during Imam Hadi’s time,” Ayatollah Jannati said.
“Through precise understanding of societal conditions, Imam Hadi (AS) redefined authentic Islamic teachings using prayers, supplications, and debates to counter doubts and misinterpretations.”
He added that Imam Hadi’s (AS) efforts left a lasting spiritual legacy for the Islamic world.
Ayatollah Jannati also tied the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir to modern governance, saying what was illustrated in Ghadir is a complete model for establishing divine values in society.
He referred to Iran’s political system and said the model of religious democracy established after Iran’s Islamic Revolution stems from the deep belief of its leaders in Ghadir’s message.
The senior cleric further urged institutions organizing Eid al-Ghadir celebrations to devise plans to elevate public understanding of the concepts of Imamate and Wilayat (religious leadership).
