Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the initiative aims to strengthen Quranic values while adapting to modern technological advancements.
In his speech at the closing of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA), he said, “This effort will continue to be intensified for the benefit of a MADANI generation with a Quranic soul,” Bernama reported.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Sheikh Salah Muhammad Al-Budair, Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
Mohd Na’im said religious affairs agencies will continue to lead Quran-related development programmes. He pointed to Darul Quran, under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), as a key reference centre in professional tahfiz studies, having trained thousands of skilled huffaz.
He also noted that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme for tahfiz students was designed to produce memorizers of the Quran who also possess technical, business, and other professional skills.
According to him, this year’s MTHQA, themed “Developing a MADANI Ummah,” reflects the government’s commitment to advancing the dignity of the Muslim community.

He expressed hope that the competition, first launched in 1961, will continue to unite participants from across the globe.
The 65th edition of the MTHQA, held from Aug. 2 to 9, gathered 71 contestants from 49 countries.
