The landmark event unfolded at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from August 2 to 9 under the theme “Developing a MADANI Ummah,” drawing 71 contestants from 49 countries.

Cash prizes of RM40,000, RM30,000 and RM20,000—plus jewelry—awaited winners in both recitation and memorisation categories.

“We ensured only truly qualified participants advanced,” said Datuk Sirajuddin Suhaimee, chairman of the judges’ panel, lauding notable improvements in melody and tajweed among reciters, Bernama reported on Friday.

On memorisation, he added: “For memorisation, there’s nothing you can’t answer… the majority, you could say 99 per cent of the memorisation participants were able to answer.”
