Sheikh Zuhair Juaid, coordinator of the Lebanese Amal movement, made the remark in an interview with IQNA on the sidelines of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference, which was held in Tehran earlier this month.
Referring to the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he said, “For 1,500 years, we Muslims have been living under the blessings of the Messenger of Mercy and we are proud and honored to be the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). But are we really following his path as the Prophet wanted?"
He continued, “What is happening today in the Islamic world, especially in Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, and the entire region, confirms that this Ummah has unfortunately strayed far from the teachings and methods of the Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”
He referred to some of the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and noted that the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) said a Muslim is the brother of another Muslim, whether he likes it or not.
In another hadith, he stated, the last messenger of God said believers, in their love, affection, and compassion for one another, are like one body and whenever one part of it aches, the other parts are overcome by insomnia and fever.
Sheikh Juaid wondered whether the Arab and Islamic Ummah today is in a state of illness because Gaza is sick? “Is it in a state of hunger because the people of Gaza are hungry? Is it in a state of fear because the people of Gaza are afraid? No, by God, everyone is in comfort except for those whom God has mercy on.”
Stating that the number of Muslims today is close to two billion, he added, “If this small group of believers were not in the axis of resistance from Palestine to Lebanon, which sacrificed its most valuable person, the martyr Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, and his commanders, we would have paid a heavy price in this war, in Iraq and Yemen. The people of Yemen continue to support Gaza despite poverty, despite the siege, and despite poverty and hardship.”

The cleric added that the Islamic Republic is the head of the axis of resistance and its backbone, and has been exposed to an unjust war due to its humanitarian stance towards Gaza.
“Iran’s stance is humanitarian before it is an Islamic stance, a humane, Islamic, and compassionate stance towards the people of Gaza. Therefore, Iran stood by the people of Gaza and supported them so that the Palestinian people could regain their freedom.”
Referring to the defeat of the enemies against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime in June this year, he stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran emerged victorious and proud in this war, and we also hold our heads high because of Iran’s victory.”
