Speaking in a Tuesday sermon in Qom, he said true ethics begins with mastering one’s inner self. “Whoever allows reason to prevail over desire achieves the greatest victory,” he said, adding that when someone enters the straight path, advancing on it is neither harmful nor obstructive to others.

He defended the generosity of Imam Hassan (AS), who gave away his wealth several times, arguing that such actions were not wasteful. “A person on the straight path can accelerate without fear of falling or causing harm,” he said.

Turning to social behavior, Javadi Amoli stressed that in debates, many fall into stubbornness by insisting on their own views. “This stubbornness prevents people from understanding the truth and supporting it,” he noted.

He cited Nahj al-Balagha, saying: “Do not resort to stubbornness or extremism, for it disrupts the order of society. If your destination is unclear, wait and do not insist.”

The cleric also criticized greed and excessive accumulation of wealth, describing it as a “false attachment” that leads to bondage. Instead, he urged believers to seek spiritual abundance rather than material excess.
