Ayatollah Sistani’s Wife Passes Away

IQNA – The wife of Iraq’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani passed away on Sunday evening.

She died in the holy city of Najaf after enduring a period of illness, Al-Sumaria News reported.

According to a statement from Ayatollah Sistani’s office, “The venerable Lady, the daughter of Ayatollah Seyed Mirza Hassan, granddaughter of Grand Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Hassan Shirazi (RA), and wife of the eminent religious authority Ayatollah Sistani, hastened to the presence of God’s mercy in Najaf.”

Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, the 6th of Rabi' al-Thani and her body will be buried in the Sheikh Tusi Mosque.

Also, memorial services and Fatiha prayers for the deceased’s soul will be held at the Khadra Mosque on Monday and Tuesday after Maghrib and Isha prayers.
