TEHRAN (IQNA) – A prominent Iraqi Quran master highlighted the role of grassroots institutes in his country in identifying and developing Quranic talents.

Speaking to IQNA, Rafi al-Ameri said such institutes attract Quranic talents from different age groups and develop their skills in the fields of Quran memorization and recitation.
He noted that most of Iraq’s top Quranic talents have been trained in grassroots Quranic institutes.
Al-Ameri, who heads Iraq Quran Institute, said that Quranic centers have attracted many people to Quranic activities in Iraq in recent years.
These centers also play a constructive role in gathering Muslims under the banner of the Noble Quran and enhancing Islamic unity, he stated.
The Iraqi Quranic figure further said most of the activities of Quranic centers revolve around teaching memorization and recitation whereas attention should be paid to contemplating the Quran as well.
He added that there is also need for more attention to the issue of Tafsir (Quran interpretation).
Asked about the activities of his Quranic institute, al-Ameri said as well as teaching Quran recitation in two styles (Egyptian and Iraqi), the institute holds national and local Quran contests and contributes to Quranic and religious activities in Iraq.
