TEHRAN (IQNA) – A specialized workshop to clarify the features of a good Quran recitation for Iraqi Qaris was organized in the holy city of Karbala.

According to the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, Quran activists and elites from different provinces of the country participated in the program.

Ali Aboud Tayi, director of the Quran Teaching Center of the Astan, said that the main objective of the two-day program was to improve the Quran recitation skills of the Qaris.

It was supervised by Mustafa Tayi, an expert in Quran recitation, he added.

The features of a good Quran recitation, correction of recitation mistakes among Qaris, and practical and theoretical principles of Quran recitation were the themes of the workshop.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
