The family members, friends, and students as well as other groups of people attended his funeral.
He passed away on Sunday at the age of 53.
Al-Karkhi was a senior Qari and teacher of Quran recitation styles.
He was also the vice-president of Iraq’s Association of Qaris and headed the Qaris Society of Diyala province in eastern Iraq since 1997.
The senior Quran master was in Iran last month to serve as a member of the panel of judges of the 35th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Born on May 29, 1965, in Baqubah, capital of Diyala province, al-Karkhi started learning the Quran at an early age.
He received more than 50 permissions for recitation of the Quran from eminent Iraqi Quran masters.
He trained a large number of Qaris as a Quran teacher over the years.
The Iraqi Quranic figure also wrote several books on Tajweed, Seerah (life of the infallible), and history.
