TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Palestinian girl came second in an international Quran competition held in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.

Isra Muhammad Assam Muflih Salah, the teenage girl, bagged the second prize in the recitation category of the competition, Samanews.ps website reported.

The Palestinian Authority’s Awqaf minister hailed the success and lauded the country’s Quran memorization centers for contributing to such accomplishments.

The competition was held in Tatarstan’s capital of Kazan from May 17 to 20.

Fifty male and female Quran memorizers and reciters from 25 countries took part in the international event.

The participating countries included Indonesia, Britain, Uzbekistan, Libya, Qatar, Togo, Niger, Ivory Coast, Pakistan, Palestine, Turkey, Uganda, Egypt, Yemen and Algeria.

The competition was aimed at promoting Quran memorization and recitation among the youth and others, according to the organizers.
