TEHRAN (IQNA) – After years of suspension due to the country’s civil war and political situation, Libya’s international Holy Quran competition will be held again this year.

Libya Int’l Quran Contest

The 10th edition of the contest will begin in the city of Benghazi on June 11, libyaakhbar.com website reported.

This was announced by the Quran and Sunnah Center of the country’s Awqaf (endowments) and Islamic Affairs Ministry.

The competition will be organized in the categories of memorization and recitation of the Holy Book, according to the center.

It said the resumption of the Quran award after a several-year hiatus, is good news for Quran memorizers and reciters around the world.

It went on to say that those willing to take part in the contest can contact the center via the Gmail address oqaflibya@gmail.com or via WhatsApp number 00218925791706.

Libya has been in turmoil since a NATO-backed civil war in 2011 overthrew and killed veteran dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
