Jafar Ronas, who was the special guest at the ceremony, gave certificates of honor and awards to the top memorizers, according to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
In an address, he said the verses of the Quran are spiritual treasures and one who memorizes the verses is collecting a spiritual wealth.
This wealth benefits memorizers in this world and the next and no one can take it away from them, he added.
Ronas also noted that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) emphasized learning, memorizing and reciting the Quran.
The head of the Iranian Culture House in Lahore further said that Iran offers its experiences in holding Quran competitions to Pakistan.
He went on to say that the Culture House plans to hold a Quran competition next year with the cooperation of the Minhaj al-Quran Organization and the Awqaf and religious affairs department of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
The Minhaj al-Quran Organization launched an institute for Quran memorization and recitation in 1994 with the aim of training Quran memorizers who have a basic knowledge of Islamic sciences.
