Tennessee Man Expected to Enter Guilty Plea in Threat Case Targeting Chattanooga Mosque

Federal filings state that Robert Miller plans to formalize the plea during his upcoming appearance, according to News Channel 9.

The case stems from a threat investigators say he made earlier this year when he phoned the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga and told the person who answered that he was “going to kill” them. Officials say he also shouted “Hail Satan.”

Court records describe a separate incident linked to the same investigation. According to an earlier affidavit, the Islamic Center of Greater Chattanooga reported receiving an email on September 9 that read, “I'm going to kill all of you, Hail Satan.”

Agents said the message came from a Gmail account later tied to Miller through an emergency disclosure request to Google. The IP address was traced to an EPB internet connection at the Brew and Cue bar on Rossville Boulevard.

Bartenders told federal agents that Miller lived above the establishment and regularly used its Wi-Fi. They also said that he had a history of posting “hateful and volatile messages,” including a 2022 online threat “to rape and kill a woman on Facebook.”

Agents confronted Miller at his residence two days later. The affidavit states he acknowledged sending the email.

Prosecutors say the threats prompted the mosque to adopt tighter security measures and caused significant alarm among members.
