Muslim Men Flogged by Indian Police after Protesting against Demolition of Mosque

A video has been circulated online showing Muslims being flogged and assaulted by police in India’s Gujarat.

It is related to violent events on Friday when police attacked Muslims protesting the demolition of a mosque and an Islamic cemetery in the town of Junagadh.

In the video, two men, said to be policemen, are seen beating and flogging a group of Muslims in front of a mosque.

Local authorities claim the mosque and the Muslim cemetery are government property.

On Friday, hundreds of Muslims staged a rally against the demolitions that led to clashes with police.

Muslims in India are increasingly suffering abuse and anti-Muslim sentiments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government.

They are increasingly falling victim to hate crime and harassment by Hindu extremist as well as government and police.
