On Tuesday evening, several Palestinian towns in the occupied West Bank were assaulted by extremist Israeli Jewish settlers who attacked Palestinians and set fire to their cars, homes, and fields.
This was a similar attack to the one carried out by Jewish settlers in Huwara earlier this year. All Jewish settlers and their settlements are illegal under international law in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
According to eyewitnesses, the extremists drove through the towns of Al-Laban al-Sharqiya, Huwara, Beit Furik, Burin, and others near Nablus, throwing stones and burning cars, fields, homes, and other Palestinian property.
Palestinian activist Ghassan Daghlas reported that 34 Palestinians were wounded and at least 140 vehicles were torched, including an ambulance. He also said that several homes and large areas of fields with wheat, olives, grapes, and other fruit trees were set ablaze.
According to Safa news agency, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy was hit by a settler's car in Huwara, causing a skull fracture. The same agency said that another settler hit three Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, in Al Naseriyeh village. All three needed urgent medical care. Medical sources said that Palestinian boy Ismail Oweis sustained moderate injuries in his head and back after being brutally attacked by settlers in Al-Laban al-Sharqiya.
The attacks come as four Israeli settlers were killed by Palestinian gunmen in the occupied West Bank.
In February, extremist settlers set dozens of Palestinian homes and cars on fire in Huwara. That was described by an Israeli general as a "pogrom", and was the worst outburst of settler violence in decades. Palestinian media reported that over 100 homes and hundreds of cars were torched during the rampage by the settlers, which came days after 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli military raid in Nablus.
