TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Quran community of Iran has strongly slammed the Quran desecration in Sweden, noting that an insult to the Muslim holy book is an insult to all prophets and holy texts.

Dozens of qaris and memorizers, as well as officials of Quranic institutes, convened in front of the Swedish embassy in Tehran on Monday to voice their strong condemnation after a man burned a copy of the Holy Quran on Wednesday in Stockholm.

“Insulting the Quran is an insult to all goodness, beauty, knowledge, enlightenment, and human virtues, and all prophets and holy books. Without the teachings of the Quran and the culture that stems from it, society would have long ago descended into ignorance, injustice, and oppression,” the community said in a statement.

“It is too simplistic to believe that the cause of these incidents lies solely with a corrupt government or evil elements. Behind these evils, we can see the hands of arrogant, domineering individuals, including Zionists, who have been attempting to oppress the global community for decades. Today, they see their foundation crumbling in the face of the ever-expanding influence of the Quran and its life-giving teachings,” they said.

“The world's oppressors are aware that the teachings of the Holy Quran will undermine their malevolent pursuits, leading them to respond with childish and vicious reactions,” added the community.

“The fact that the enemy is targeting the Quran demonstrates their sinister intention to eradicate Islamic civilization and dismantle the foundations of Islam. It is crucial to recognize their intricate and extensive plan and confront it head-on,” the statement said.

The desecration of the Holy Quran, the permit of which was issued by Swedish authorities, sparked protests and condemnations from across the world. Protestors have urged Stockholm to prevent the occurrence of similar acts of sacrilege.
