Speaking at a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Sunday, Maulana Fazalur Rehman stated that the Muslims' holy book cannot be disrespected without consequences.
He said the insulting acts amount to an “open war” against the Muslim Ummah.
He urged Muslim countries to recall their ambassadors from Sweden and called for a united effort to protect the sanctity of the Quran.
The condemnation comes as an extremist in Sweden desecrated the Holy Quran on Thursday, for the second time in less than a month, sparking widespread anger and condemnation from Muslim and non-Muslim states.
Muslim states and organizations have urged Sweden to prevent the occurrence of similar incidents.
