TEHRAN (IQNA) – The situation of unbelievers who spent their life in fulfilling their worldy desires is like a freezing wind that destroys crops.

Verse 117 of Surah Al Imran

This is according to Verse 117 of Surah Al Imran:

“The wealth they spend in this worldly life is like a freezing wind that smites the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. Allah has not wronged them, but they wronged themselves.”

There is another comparison with regards to what people spend on worldly goals. Of course spending time and working to provide for life is not bad but what is bad is forgetting spiritual life entirely and just caring about this world.

Although Arifs (mystical figures) have recommended abandoning worldly affairs, what they mean is no avoiding the world’s blessing but they call on us to not follow our worldly desires and not prefer this world to the hereafter.

If loving this world leads to giving priority to it over the next world, it would be very bad and a sign of ignorance.

According to Hadith, the love of the world is the root of all evils. It means the kind of love due to which one sacrifices his human principles, dignity and spirituality for this world.

This verse is also about such a love of the world. It says if someone spends his life and puts all efforts into this world, it would be like a cold wind that blows and destroys all harvest.

This freezing wind puts an end to all of the desires and hopes of wrongdoers and leaves them with a sigh of regret.
