WASHINGTON, DC (IQNA) – Donald Trump told a gathering of Republican Jewish donors on Saturday that he would restore his controversial travel ban on several mostly Muslim countries if he runs for president again in 2024.

Trump said he would "keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country" and "defend our friend and ally in the State of Israel like nobody has ever."

He spoke at the annual summit of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he received a warm reception from the attendees.

Trump imposed a travel ban on Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and, initially, Iraq and Sudan in 2017, shortly after taking office. The ban faced legal challenges as a form of religious discrimination but was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018.

The ban was revoked by President Joe Biden in January 2021.

Trump was one of several Republican hopefuls who have tried to fetch more votes by supporting the ongoing Israeli atrocities in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli strikes since October 7 have killed more than 7,700 people.

Trump took a step further and described the Israeli-Hamas war as a “fight between civilization and savagery, between decency and depravity, and between good and evil,” resonating with the decades-long narrative of Western media in dehumanizing the Palestinian people and ignoring their cause of resisting against an occupation.

The Gaza-based Palestinian resistance groups staged Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, a surprise attack into the occupied territories, in response to the Israeli regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.
