Woman Charged with Hate Crime for Throwing Hot Coffee at Muslim Man in NYC
Hadasa Bozakkaravani, 48, faces nine charges, including four hate crime charges, for the assault that took place at Edmonds Playground near Clinton Hill on November 14, according to the police, Fox5 reported Tuesday.
The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
The incident is one of the latest examples of the surge in anti-Muslim hate crimes in New York City following the eruption of war between Palestinian resistance fighters and the Israeli occupation in and around the Gaza Strip.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force reported a 124% increase in bias incidents in October compared to the same month last year. The city also recorded eight anti-Muslim crimes and a 214% spike in anti-Jewish crimes in October, while none and 14 were reported respectively in October 2022.
