The Al-Aqsa Flood Operation was carried out by the Hamas resistance movement against Israel on October 7 in response to the Israeli atrocities in occupied territories and its violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It included missile attacks on occupied cities and ground assaults on settlements near Gaza. That operation plus retaliatory missile strikes by Palestinian resistance groups left hundreds of Israelis dead.
In a message from prison, which was published by his daughter, Ghannouchi said the operation was a force for revival, motivation, awakening, and awareness and a motto of heroism of the Islamic Ummah, Al-Alam reported.
He underlined that Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Grand Mosque in Mecca are the two pivotal issues of the Muslim world and the hearts of the Ummah and any threats to hem must be confronted by all.
Ghannouchi described the efforts for liberation of Palestine as not a liability but a means of power for the Muslim Ummah.
All Muslim world leaders will gain elevation by raising the flag of liberation of Palestine, he stated.
He underscored that the issue of Palestine must remain the Muslim world’s number one issue.

Ghannouchi, 82, was arrested on April 17, when the Tunisian police raided and searched his house in the capital Tunis before taking him away. The arrest came after he warned that eliminating different viewpoints such as the left or political Islam may lead to a “civil war” in the North African country.
Since early February, authorities in the North African country have arrested more than 20 opponents of incumbent President Kais Saied, including politicians, former ministers, businesspeople, trade unionists, and the owner of Tunisia's most popular radio station, Mosaique FM.
Back in May, Ghannouchi, who was the speaker of Tunisia’s parliament before Saied dissolved it in March last year, was handed down a one-year prison sentence on terrorism-related charges, which he strongly denies.
Ghannouchi, the co-founder of the Ennahda party and the most prominent critic of Saied, started his three-day hunger strike on Friday, pledging that he would not eat until restrictions on him and other prisoners are lifted.
