Holding Muslim World Mosques Congress in Support of Palestine Underlined

KUALA LUMPUR (IQNA) – Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abdol Fattah Navab, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, and Head of Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) Muhammad Azmi Abdulhamid met here on the weekend.

In this meeting, Abdulhamid referred to the bitter situation in the Gaza Strip and condemned the Israeli regime’s massacre of innocent women and children there.

He said in order to support the people of Palestine, a congress of the Muslim world’s mosques needs to be organized.

He noted that mosques are the most important religious institutions in the Islamic society.

Hojat-ol-Islam Navab welcomed the idea of holding the congress and said he would discuss it with the head of Iran’s Friday prayer leaders’ policy-making council.

“I hope organizing the congress will help (strengthen) unity among all Muslims,” he added.

“We will do our best to improve the conditions in Palestine,” he went on to say.

Hojat-ol-Islam Navab also said that the motto of the next year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage will be support for Palestine and condemnation of the Zionist regime’s brutal crimes.

Habib Reza Arzani, the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Malaysia, who was also present at the meeting, highlighted the active role of mosques in the Islamic society, said there are more than 80,000 mosques in Iran .

He called for benefiting the capacities of mosques and exchange successful experiences with Malaysia’s mosques in order to organize international conferences in different parts of the world.

Arzani described mosques as the center of great developments in the Muslim world and said they also play a major role in promotion of Islamic unity.
