Gaza War A Repetition of Battle of Ahzab, Afghan Scholar Says
The Battle of the Confederates, also known as the Battle of Khandaq (the Battle of the Trench) was part of the conflict between the Muslims and the Quraysh, where the Quraysh took the offensive and advanced on the Muslims, who defended themselves in Medina by digging a trench around their settlement at the suggestion of Salman the Persian.
In an article provided to IQNA, Mawlawi Abdul Rauf Tavana said just like the Battle of Ahzab, in which all enemy groups and tribes of Mecca and Medina had united to eliminate the “young Islamic faith”, the enemies of Islam have now united in the war on the Gaza Strip.
He noted that the Battle of Ahzab was one of the most important events in the history of Islam and a turning point because Muslims’ victory in that battle broke the back of the enemies and paved the way for future victories.
He said the Battle of Ahzab, Muslims carried out defense Jihad as it was the enemies who launched the war and advanced on Muslims.
In that battle, all faith confronted all the Kufr (disbelief), he said, adding that it was the enemies’ last resort.
The battle was a major test for Muslims and all those who claimed to advocate Islam, he stated.
The stances of three groups, namely true believers, those with weak faith and the hypocrites, were made clear with their conduct in this battle, Tavana stated.
Another point about this battle was the fact that it was the enemies’ last shot and with their defeat, the situation of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Muslims was stabilized in Medina and elsewhere, he went on to say.
The Afghan scholar said the situation in the Middle East today resembles that of the Battle of Ahzab where the disbelievers of Mecca and the Jews of Medina had made an alliance.
