IQNA – The holy city of Najaf in Iraq is hosting an exhibition of rare manuscript copies of the Holy Quran.

The expo has been organized as part of the activities related to the 13th World Al-Ghadir Week.

It features a number of rare Quran manuscripts dating back to the earl years after the advent of Islam (first to third Hijri centuries), al-Anbat website reported.

Some of them are attributed to Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam.

On display are also manuscript copies of Islamic works in such fields as Fiqh (jurisprudence) and philosophy.

They are part of the great treasure of manuscripts kept in the holy mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS).

The exhibition aims to help to introduce the Islamic heritage and civilization to the new generations.

It has attracted a large number of visitors, especially those interested in the history of Islam and the Islamic civilization.

There are more than 7,500 rare manuscripts copies of Quran and Islamic texts kept in Imam Ali’s (AS) mausoleum.
