Mahdism refers to efforts to help people realize Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) as the end-times Savior and guide those awaiting his advent to shape their life in way that will pave the way for his uprising.
Nazar Haidar, the Iraqi analyst, told IQNA in an interview that the Arbaeen march, which is attended by millions of pilgrims from countries and watched by people from around the world plays a significant role in promoting the Mahdism culture and discourse.
He said questions arise in the mind of anyone who sees the grandeur and splendor of this procession, questions about the time, place and purpose of the procession.
These questions will lead to one conclusion, which is the path of Imam Hussein (AS) and the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent), he stated.
Haidar also highlighted the positive social, religious and spiritual outcomes of the Arbaeen march, saying the pilgrims learn to enhance values and moral principles and do away with negative trends during the pilgrimage.
It is important that the pilgrims continue these positive trends until the next year, he emphasized.
The Iraqi scholar further referred to the importance of Arbaeen in preserving and promoting the values and messages of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising and said the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) has a universal message that is valid for all times and places.
