More than 15,000 pilgrims benefited from these programs, which continued until the end of the lunar Hijri month of Safar (September 4), the Astan said, al-Kafeel website reported.
The Quranic events, organized by the Women Quranic Activities Institute, affiliated to the Astan, included Quran reading and recitation sessions and a campaign to correct the mistakes in recitation of Surah Al-Fatiah.
Minar al-Jabouri, head of the institute, said there were also cultural and religious activities, including mourning ritual, answering religious questions, and offering medical, health and other services.
She said a special tent named after Hazrat Ruqayyah (SA) was also set up in which Quran programs were held for children.
She added that women from all over the world meet during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which provides an opportunity for raising awareness and promoting the Quranic culture and the principles of the Imam Hussein (AS) uprising.
During the Arbaeen season, the institute set up 17 Quranic stations on the roads leading to Karbala to hold Quranic programs and offer Quranic, cultural and religious services to female pilgrims.
