Swedish Memorizer Wins Dubai Int’l Quran Competition for Women

IQNA – A Quran memorizer from Sweden came first in the 8th edition of an international Quran competition for women in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Winners of the eighth edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition awarded in a ceremony on Friday, September 13, 2024.

 

Ahmed Al Zahid, spokesperson for the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, announced that the eighth edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition concluded on Friday.

The closing ceremony took place at the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai, following broad participation from 62 countries and Islamic communities worldwide.

He stated that the international Holy Quran competition took place from September 7 to 11, with morning and evening sessions. On Friday, prizes were awarded to the top ten winners, and all participants were honored.

Al Zahid said this edition saw the launch of the newly developed award website. The site will be accessible to everyone and will allow users to nominate candidates for competitions, learn about the award’s fourteen branches, and view a photo exhibition showcasing the award's history since its inception.

At the conclusion of this year’s competition, Swedish contestant Safia Taher secured the first place, while Khadija Al-Mukhtar from Mauritania came second. Fati Rashid from Kenya earned the third place. Maryam Habib from Nigeria and Afnan Rashad from Yemen tied for fourth. Asmaa Younis from Egypt came in sixth, and Asmaa Shalabi from Tunisia was seventh. Zahra Ansari from Iran came eighth, Putri Hanif from Malaysia was ninth, and Mona Al-Sagheer from Libya shared tenth place with Aisha Jakhoura from South Africa.

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) annually organizes the international Quranic event for women from various countries.
