Russia Muslim Women Congress Stresses Safeguarding Family Values

IQNA – Participants in a congress of Russian Muslim women underscored the need to safeguarded traditional family values.   

A congress of Russian Muslim women was held on September 21-22, 2024, in Simferopol, Crimea

 

The congress was held on September 21-22 in Simferopol, the Crimean Peninsula, RT reported. 

In the closing statement of the event, the participants urged Muslim women in Russia to strive for strengthening the citizenship identity and protecting family culture and values.

They also called for a special focus on educating the younger generation and strengthening the spirit of patriotism and respect for the diversity of religions and nationalities.

They further stressed their support for Muslim women’s activities and voiced readiness for cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of improving women’s activities.    

“Role of Muslim woman in preserving racial unity and strengthening spirit of patriotism in Russia; traditions and modernity” was the theme of the congress.

Russia, the largest country in the world, has a population of around 144 million, most of whom follow Orthodox Christianity.

There are more than 20 million Muslims in Russia, most of whom live in the southern republics such as Tatarstan, Dagestan, Chechnya, and Bashkortostan.
