Yousef Jafarzadeh and Mehdi Mahdavi are representing Iran in this year’s contest. They left Tehran for Zagreb on Wednesday.

The 30th edition of Croatia’s international Quran competition takes place in the Eastern European country’s capital from September 26 to 29 with the participation of qaris and memorizers from different countries.

Jafarzadeh, who is from the southern province of Hormozgan, competes in the category of Quran recitation while Mahdavi, from the northwestern province of Ardabil, will vie for the top prize in memorization of the entire Quran.

They were both among the finalists in the past two editions of Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition.
