Quran Contest Held for Students in Uganda

IQNA – A Quran competition was held for students of Al-Mustafa International Islamic University’s college in Kyengera, Uganda’s capital of Kampala, this weekend.

The Quranic event was organized by the Iranian Culture Center in the African country. 

The contenders competed in various categories, including Quran recitation and memorization.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Iranian Ambassador to Uganda Majid Saffar urged Muslims to make the Holy Quran their ultimate guide.

The Holy Book has all the wisdom of life, he said, adding, “Never deviate from it.”

He also stressed unity among Muslims, citing the Quran’s emphasis on social justice and protecting the weak and the oppressed, particularly in regions like the Gaza Strip, Palestine and Lebanon.

Saffar reminded the participants that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) stood up for the oppressed.

He further encouraged Muslims to bring the message of peace and unity, emphasizing that they are one community.

Iranian Cultural Attaché Abbasi also addressed the closing ceremony, urging Muslims to make the Quran part of their daily lives.

Another speaker was Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, first deputy Mufti, who called for prayers for Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

He also said that imperialists continue to pursue neocolonialism and exploitation.
