Four Iranians Present in Iraqi Int’l Quran Award

IQNA – There are four Iranian Quran activists present in Iraq’s international Quran competition that kicked off in Baghdad on Saturday.

Two of them are contenders while the other two serve in the panel of arbiters.

A total of 31 contestants from several countries are participating in the first edition of Iraq International Quran Award.

It has been organized by the National Center for Quranic Sciences in Iraq in collaboration with Shia and Sunni Waqf organizations under the slogan, “From Baghdad, the symbol of civilization and Islam, to Gaza, the symbol of resistance, and Lebanon, the symbol of jihad; with the Quran, we achieve victory and resilience.”

Mehdi Shayeq is representing Iran in the category of Quran recitation while Ali Gholamazad is competing in memorization of the entire Quran.

Quran experts Qassem Raziei and Mutaz Aghaei are the Iranian members of the panel of judges.

Shayegh, 36, is from the central city of Yazd. He has won several prizes in international Quranic events, including a first rank in Tunisia international Quran competition.

Twenty-four-year-old Gholamazad, who is from the northern city of Zanjan, came third in the 39th edition of Croatia international Quran contest.
