Gholamazad is competing in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.
He took the stage to answer questions from the judges on Monday.
They asked him questions from Surahs Al-Ma’idah, Kahf, Jathiyah, and Ghashiyah and then asked him to recite verses from Surah Al-Fajr.
“Fortunately, I had a good performance,” he told IQNA afterward.
Later on Monday, it was the turn of Iran’s other representative, Mehdi Shayegh, to showcase his Quranic talents.
Shayegh is competing for Iran in the category of Quran recitation.
The first edition of Iraq International Quran Award began on Saturday in Baghdad and will run until November 14.

According to organizers, 31 Quran memorizers and qaris from Arab and Islamic countries are participating in the competition.
The primary goal of the contest is to highlight Iraq’s Quranic heritage and to encourage the recitation and memorization of the Quran, they say.
