IQNA – Fires broke out in parts of Kamal Adwan Hospital after the Israeli military ordered the evacuation of northern Gaza’s last medical facility, according to local media reports.

The Health Ministry reported that Israeli forces raided the hospital on Friday morning, hours after airstrikes on a nearby building killed 53 people, including medical staff.

The military had earlier forced dozens of sick and injured patients to leave the hospital. Early Friday morning, Israeli forces intensified their operations around Kamal Adwan Hospital, with tanks supported by quadcopter machine guns advancing deeper into the area.

The fires affected the operating room, laboratory, and emergency departments.

The director of the Gaza Health Ministry stated that Israeli forces stormed the hospital and forced out 350 people, including all patients and staff present at the time.

He noted that contact with the hospital was lost, and ambulances sent there did not return with any updates. The director added that the Israeli military had burned down part of the hospital the previous day.

In response, the Health Ministry in Ramallah appealed to the international community to intervene and protect hospitals in Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza.

In a statement on Facebook, the ministry reiterated its calls for the protection of patients, medical staff, and treatment centers from Israeli aggression, describing Israel’s actions as a “genocidal war.”

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli forces have killed 37 Palestinians and injured 98 across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours. The latest casualties bring the death toll since October 7 last year to at least 45,436, with at least 108,038 people injured.
