Nat’l Quran Competition for Women Planned in Libya

IQNA – The first national Quran competitions for female university students and academics is planned to be held in Libya.

A press conference was held on the first national Quran competitions for female university students and academics in Libya.

 

It will be organized by the women’s support and empowerment office of the country’s ministry of higher education and scientific research in collaboration with the Libyan Quranic Assembly, Akhbar Libiya website reported. 

According to the High Committee for Competitions, the objectives of the contest include encouraging women in higher education to memorize the Quran, enhancing the capabilities of female educational institutions in Quran memorization, and emphasizing the importance and positive impact of Quran competitions in universities and higher education institutions.

Head of the committee Somiya Abdul Qadir said at a press conference that this event will include various categories, such as the memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of the last half of the Quran, memorization of the last quarter of the Quran, and memorization of the last three parts of the Quran.    

Tariq Abdulghani Mahmoud, the head of the Libyan Quran Assembly, stated that the competition will foster a love for the Quran among students by combining knowledge and faith, making the Quran a reference point in their behavior and way of life.

He also said that the contest provides an opportunity to reinforce Islamic values and strengthen the role of Muslim women in society, especially considering that women play a significant role in education and upbringing.
