Al-Kawthar TV Channel Announces 18th Int’l Quran Competition ‘Mafaza’

IQNA – Al-Kawthar Satellite Channel has issued a call for participants in the 18th edition of its televised Quran competition, “Inna lil-Muttaqeena Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment), scheduled for Ramadan 2025. 

 

According to the channel, registration for the event begins on January 14, 2025, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), and will close on February 2, 2025, the birth anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

Contestants are required to choose and recite a two-to-three-minute segment from one of three sections of the Holy Quran: verses 161–165 of Surah Al-An’am, verses 143–144 of Surah Al-A’raf, or verses 110–115 of Surah Hud.

The audio recording, along with the participant’s full name, country, phone number, and the chosen passage, must be submitted for the initial screening process. 

Ninety-six participants will be selected during the preliminary evaluation stage before Ramadan. These individuals will proceed to the next round, with specific recitation assignments determined by a draw.

Contestants will have three days to submit their video recordings for live evaluation by an international panel of judges.

From this pool, 24 reciters will advance to the semi-finals, with an additional reciter chosen based on audience votes. The grand finale, featuring five finalists from five different countries, will take place on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, where the top winners will be announced. 

Iranian Qari Hemmat Qassemi won the 2024 edition of the competition.
