Sri Lanka Quran Competition Winners Honored

IQNA – The winners of Sri Lanka’s second Holy Quran Memorization Competition were awarded in a ceremony in the capital Colombo.

The closing ceremony was attended by prominent officials and diplomats.

It included honoring 24 winners across four competition categories, receiving total prizes exceeding SAR200,000.

Attendees also participated in commemorative photographs to mark the occasion.

Several dignitaries attended the celebration, including members from the Parliament of Sri Lanka and ambassadors from Arab and Islamic countries.

Sheikh Saud Al-Ghamdi, an undersecretary in the Saudi ministry of Islamic affairs, Dawah and guidance, in a speech highlighted that this competition is part of the efforts to spread the message of the Noble Quran, promote values of moderation, and instil Islamic identity among Muslims worldwide.

Also speaking was Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Colombo, Khalid Al-Qahtani, who highlighted the impressive participation of nearly 1,900 male and female contestants from across Sri Lanka, which showcased the event's significance and the commitment of Islamic organizations to engage with top Quran memorizers from various age groups.
