Senior Iranian Cleric Named Quranic Personality of Year
The introduction of the Quranic personality of the lunar Hijri calendar year of 1446 was part of the programs marking the World Quran Day.
A ceremony honoring Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli was held at his office in the holy city of Qom, with the attendance of Sheikh Hassan al-Mansouri, advisor to the secretary general of the Astan for Quranic Affairs, along with a delegation from the Astan and staff from the International Center for Quranic Propagation.
In an address at the ceremony, Sheikh al-Mansouri noted that the Astan of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine considers this great occasion an opportunity to honor those with Quranic achievements, in appreciation of their efforts in serving the Book of God and spreading its teachings.
He added, “Honoring Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli and selecting him as the Quranic Personality of the Year is due to his contributions to the Holy Quran, the dissemination of Quranic sciences, and enriching Islamic thought through his writings and interpretation lessons. His most famous interpretive work is Tasnim, which is a comprehensive commentary on the Holy Quran in 80 volumes and is considered one of the most important contemporary interpretation encyclopedias.”
Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the commendable initiative of the Astan.
He praised the Astan’s efforts in serving the Holy Quran and spreading its teachings across various countries worldwide. Emphasizing the continuation of this Quranic endeavor and the strengthening of the Quranic culture in Islamic communities, he wished success for those involved in this project.
