Israeli Settlers’ Mosque Arson Latest Act of War against Islam: US Advocacy Group

IQNA – A US advocacy group described an arson attack by Illegal Israeli settlers on a mosque in the occupied West Bank as part of Israel’s “war against Islam.”

Illegal Israeli settlers have reportedly carried out over 2,970 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank in 2024. In Gaza, Israeli forces destroyed 79 percent of Gaza’s mosques, along with three churches. Israel is being accused of carrying out ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank similar to that in the Gaza Strip.

News of the mosque arson on Sunday comes as the updated the death toll from Israel’s genocide in Gaza has now topped 61,000 – mostly slaughtered women and children – with thousands added who are missing and presumed dead.

In a statement on Monday, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, said:

“This reported arson attack on a mosque in the occupied West Bank is just the latest act of war against Islam by the far-right government of indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and its illegal settler supporters. President Trump must reverse his recent action lifting sanctions against the racist settlers who target Palestinian civilians on a daily basis.”

In December, CAIR said an arson attack on a West Bank mosque by racist illegal Israeli settlers was part of Israel’s ongoing “war on Islam.”

Also last year, CAIR condemned a ban on the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, at mosques and repeated it call for Muslim-majority nations to take concrete action to end the Israeli government’s genocide.

CAIR also condemned an Israeli soldier’s obscene desecration of a copy of the Holy Quran and CAIR called on the Biden administration to investigate reports that an American soldier taking part in the genocide in Gaza posted an image of herself and a destroyed mosque defaced with insults targeting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Washington, D.C., based CAIR previously said video of Israeli soldiers burning and tearing Qurans in Gaza is further proof of Israel’s ongoing genocide in targeting the Palestinian people and “shows the true face of the genocide.”

On Friday, CAIR called for the removal of a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council (Board of Trustees), Martin Oliner, who reportedly claims all Palestinians in Gaza are not worthy of “any mercy” and that the “people of Gaza are collectively guilty” and ‘fundamentally evil.”
