Tehran Municipality Launches Quranic, Cultural Programs for Ramadan, Nowruz

IQNA – Tehran Municipality has unveiled a series of Quranic and cultural events for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and the Persian New Year, Nowruz.

 

The initiatives are part of an initiative which aims to foster spirituality, social engagement, and cultural vibrancy.

During a press conference held at Tehran’s Milad Tower, Mohammad Amin Tavakolizadeh, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran Municipality, introduced the campaign under the theme "Spring of the Quran, Spring of Iran."

He highlighted that the municipality’s main focus will be on faith and spirituality, vitality and liveliness, Nowruz and tourism, and social responsibility.

He announced that the third edition of the Arman Quranic Festival will be held in Rey in south of the metropolis. Other planned activities include the ‘One Thousand Mosques’ program, Quran recitation and interpretation sessions, and the ‘Verses to Live By’ campaign in mosques and religious spaces.

He further elaborated on Ramadan-specific activities, stating that each neighborhood in Tehran will host a mosque dedicated to special Quranic programs.

"The Quranic daycare centers in local community hubs will also organize dedicated programs," he noted.

Additionally, the municipality and the Tehran Supreme Quran Council will take an active role in this year’s International Quran Exhibition, he said.

As part of social responsibility efforts, Tavakolizadeh announced that simple Iftar meals will be arranged across different 1,000 locations in Tehran.

Moreover, collective prayers will be held in 100 public parks during Nowruz.

A special festival celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan (AS) will also take place in designated mosques.

The municipality’s Ramadan and Nowruz festivities will feature a range of cultural festivals, including a Quranic festival, tourism festival, and tree-planting events.

Iran announced March 2, as the start of the blessed month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, Iranians will mark March 21 (Ramadan 20th) as the start of the new Persian calendar year in ceremonies known as Nowruz.
