IQNA – Two Moroccan memorizers have earned top honors at the 8th Katara International Quran Recitation Competition, held in 2025.

Nabil El Kharazi secured first place, receiving a prize of 500,000 Qatari riyals, while Ayoub Allam claimed third place with a prize of 300,000 Qatari riyals.

Egypt's Mahmoud Kamal El-Din Mohamed took second place, winning 400,000 Qatari riyals. Afghan reciter Mohammad Ali Faroghi came in fourth, earning 200,000 Qatari riyals, while Egypt’s Ahmed Mohamed El-Sayed secured fifth place with a prize of 100,000 Qatari riyals.

"I dedicate this victory to my parents, who worked tirelessly to support me," said El Kharazi, 24, expressing his gratitude.

He noted the intense competition, acknowledging the high level of talent among participants. Currently studying Islamic sciences at Moroccan religious institutes, he aspires to pursue further academic studies.

Allam, 31, also shared his excitement about the achievement. "Winning the Katara Quran Recitation Competition means a lot to me and will further inspire my work in training Quran memorizers in Salé," he said.

The awards were presented by Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara. The competition’s finals were broadcast live by Qatar TV, the event’s media partner.
