Zionist Regime Only Obstacle to Realization of Nuclear-Free Mideast: Iran’s FM
Speaking in a meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Rome on Saturday, Araghchi underlined the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran rejects possession of weapons of mass destruction based on religious and national values and in accordance with its defense doctrine.
Referring to the Israeli regime’s threats to regional peace and security, he said the only obstacle to the realization of a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East is the Zionist regime, which, along with genocide, lawlessness and aggression against the countries of the region, seeks to destabilize Iran and increase insecurity in the Middle East.

The Iranian top diplomat underscored that Europe and the international community need to take a position of responsibility away from imposed stereotypes against the Israeli regime’s aggressions and threats.
Araghchi, who has traveled to Rome for talks with the US’ representative on Iran’s nuclear program and removal of sanctions, also noted Iran’s commitment to diplomacy and the country’s long history of engagement with other countries on nuclear issues.
He recalled the need for all parties to take advantage of the opportunity to reach a reasonable and reasonable understanding, which, while respecting the legitimate rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran and removing cruel and illegal sanctions, will remove any doubts about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program through voluntary trust.
The Italian foreign minister, for his part, recalled the long history of relations between Iran and Italy, and noted Italy’s interest in strengthening relations between the two countries.
He also stressed his country’s determination to provide any assistance for the success of the Iran-US talks.
