Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, served as head of the Catholic Church from 2013 until his passing. Widely respected for his humble leadership and advocacy for the marginalized, he worked to build bridges between religious communities—particularly between Islam and Christianity.

“Through a humane and ethical approach,” Arafi wrote, “he made valuable efforts to strengthen relations among divine religions—especially between Islam and Christianity—and to spread moral values, justice, and a rejection of oppression.”

The message concluded with prayers for the late pope’s soul and wishes of patience for the global Catholic community. “We ask the Almighty for divine mercy upon his spirit and offer prayers of comfort for our Christian brothers and sisters,” Arafi said.
