Speaking to IQNA, Mohammad-Javad Kashefi, an international Quran reciter and the official leader of the convoy, said the team consists of 20 members, including 14 qaris, one Quran memorizer, and a five-member Tawasheeh group.

“These members have been divided into different groups and will travel in stages,” he said. “Many of the qaris are well-known nationally and internationally. While the convoy benefits from their experience, this year’s group is notably youthful, with an average age of 32.”

Kashefi emphasized that the delegation is fully prepared for high-quality performances during the pilgrimage. “We hope the recitations offered by this group will have a strong spiritual impact on the audience,” he said.

The Noor Quranic Convoy is part of Iran’s broader efforts to enhance the religious experience of its pilgrims by organizing Quran-related programs during Hajj. Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for this annual pilgrimage, and Iran also sends a number of Quran activists alongside its pilgrims.

Kashefi noted that the planned Quranic sessions will be held in both Mecca and Medina. “Around 220 recitation gatherings are expected,” he said. While most sessions are scheduled in advance, he added that “about 30 percent of the programs will be adapted to the circumstances on the ground and decided on the day of execution.”

Addressing the convoy’s response to ongoing issues in the Muslim world, including Gaza and Palestine, Kashefi said: “We will do our best to play a meaningful role. Before and after each recitation, we will present verses that call on Muslims to stand against oppression and defend the rights of the oppressed.”

“The Quran is the shared language of all Muslims,” he added, “and we must use its guidance to raise awareness about what is happening in Gaza and Palestine.”
