Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made the remark at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday evening, before leaving for Jakarta to attend the conference.
The conference, which is attended by 38 delegations from Islamic countries, is a good opportunity for bilateral discussions between Islamic countries to further cooperation and address challenges, especially the issue of Palestine and Gaza, which is not only the issue of the Islamic world but also the concern of all justice-seeking people in the world, he said.
Ghalibaf also highlighted the importance of the PUIC in the development of ties among Muslim states.
Given the emphasis of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on using diplomatic relations between countries and using existing capacities for national and Islamic advancements, the Inter-Islamic Union can be pointed out as an opportunity, he stated.
Ghalibaf also noted that during the trip, he would pursue expansion of relations with Indonesia.
Indonesia is the most populous Islamic country and with a population of about 300 million, the largest Islamic country, so the development of relations between the two countries in the political, economic and cultural fields is on agenda, he went on to say.
