The ceremony was organized by the Imam Warsh Center for Quran Memorization and Religious Sciences on Sunday evening.
Mauritania’s Minister of Islamic Affairs Sidi Yahya Ould Cheikhna Ould Lemrabet addressed the event, hailing the center’s efforts to promote memorization of the Holy Book.
Noting that his ministry has also taken measures in this regard, he said these efforts help to preserve the Islamic identity and immunity of young people from socially harmful behaviors.
The ministry’s Department of Islamic Affairs and Education has encouraged the reopening of many centers and schools, and the number of these centers has reached 10,720 this year.
Sayed Mukhtar Ould Al-Khalifa, chairman of the center’ administrative council, also said that since its establishment, the center has made efforts to teach the Quran to all groups of society, especially girls with low literacy.
