Asadollah Badamchian, head of the Islamic Coalition Party’s Central Council, made the remark in an interview with Mehr News Agency on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir and Eid al-Adha.
Badamchian described these occasions as reminders of a pure truth in human history, one tied to the guardianship (Wilayah) of Imam Ali (AS).
“The governance model of Imam Ali (AS) is a complete model of divine rule—one founded on justice, equity, and sincere servitude to God,” Badamchian said.
Badamchian highlighted Imam Ali’s (AS) approach to ruling a vast territory, including parts of modern-day Iran, Arabia, Egypt, and Syria.
“He governed not with pomp and ceremony, but with austerity, justice, courage, decisiveness, and compassion. He wept over the dignity of people—so much so that if a bracelet were forcibly taken from a non-Muslim woman, it would deeply distress him.”
He contrasted Imam Ali’s (AS) model of governance with contemporary global challenges.
“In a world plagued by oppression, discrimination, Trumpism, and Zionism, humanity needs the leadership model of Imam Ali (AS) more than ever,” Badamchian argued. “Where justice is absent, only the example of Ali’s (AS) conduct offers hope for salvation.”
He added that Imam Ali’s (AS) leadership remains a “divine blessing for Muslims and all humanity”, noting that even non-Muslims could benefit from his governance principles.
He also said Imam Ali’s (AS) character is such that anyone who knows him loves him. “This is why love for Ali (AS) is common among all Islamic schools of thought.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Badamchian emphasized the significance of Eid al-Ghadir, which marks the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) appointment of Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
“Ghadir is not just a historical event—it is the celebration of the completion of religion and divine grace,” he said, referencing Verse 3 of Surah Al-Ma’idah of the Holy Quran: “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you.”
Badamchian praised recent initiatives to commemorate Eid al-Ghadir as a unifying tradition.
