The Quranic Affairs Center of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said the country will participate in two categories of the 45th international Quran competition in Saudi Arabia.
According to the center, Mehdi Barandeh will compete for Iran in memorization of the entire Quran and Seyed Hossein Moqaddam Sadat will represent the country in memorization of 15 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.
The process of selecting representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in various international competitions is based on the conditions and criteria of the host country, as well as on the ranks they receive in national competitions.
This process is carried out by the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization and the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Quran Reciters.
The exact date for the Saudi Quran competition has not yet been announced, but in the past, this event was held in early Safar (August) in the city of Mecca, near the Grand Mosque.
Last year, Mohammad Hossein Behzadfar and Mohammad Mehdi Rezaei represented Iran in the competition’s categories of memorizing the entire Quran and memorizing 15 Juzes, respectively, but they failed to win a rank.
