IQNA – The 7th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students began in earnest on Sunday with the launch of the preliminary round.

This round is taking place virtually with members of the panel of judges assessing the performance of the contestants from the Mobin Studio of the International Quran News Agency in Tehran.

This round’s competition in the category of memorization of the Holy Quran began today and will run until Wednesday.

According to the secretariat of the competition, representatives from 47 countries are taking part in this category.

The selection test to introduce Iran’s representatives in the categories of Quran recitation and memorization of the entire Holy Quran will be held next week in the form of a video file of the participants’ recitations played for the judging panel.

The Iranian Academics’ Quranic Organization, affiliated to the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), has organized the competition since 2006 with the aim of promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.

This year’s event comes following six successful editions of the competition, which hosted participants from over 85 countries and had a significant impact on Quranic and cultural engagement across the Islamic world.

The 6th edition took place in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, in April 2018.
